This is your invitation to attend the
1974 IDAHO STATE (CLOSED) CHESS TOURNAMENT
February 16-17, 1974
To be held in Twin Falls, Idaho at the beautiful YWCA building on East Elizabeth Blvd., site of previous tournaments.
Registration: 8:30 - 9:30 am. Saturday, February 16, play starts at 9:45 am. Swiss style tournament with five rounds, three Saturday and two Sunday. Play will be over by 5:30 pm. Sunday to allow for travel.
Entry Free: $10.00 except $5.00 for juniors 18 years old or younger.
USCF Rated. All entrants must belong to or join the U.S. Chess Federation (can be joined at tournament). Annual USCF dues if paid at tournament = $8.00 except $4.00 for under 21 years of age (at expiration). Present members bring current paid up card.
One playing section for all classes. Harkness pairings, 60/2 time limit. Median primary tie break. Ted Hartwell directs.
Prizes: trophies for top three finishers regardless of rating. Also trophies for top three juniors. In addition, prizes strictly within class = $30.00 for 1st, 1800 rating and over (Class A and Expert) (no 2nd and 3rd in this class due to lack of enough participants); $20/1st, $15/2nd, $10/3rd for 1600-1799; $20/1st, $15/2nd, $10/3rd for under 1600 or unrated. We are trying this new prize system to stimulate interest in the lower classes.
Our annual business meeting will be held at the tournament. New officers for 1974 will be elected. Ted Hartwell is current President and Dick Vandenburg is Secretary-Treasurer.
